Yowie is aboriginal for the place of echoes. Yowie Bay adjoins Miranda, Gymea & Gymea Bay. It is serviced by three convenient stores, the one at the boat ramp is also a bottle shop. It is the closest water front suburb to Miranda & Westfield Shopping Town. Yowie Bay Public School has classes from Kindergarten to 6th class. Public access to the water is either by the boat ramp on Wonga Road, Port Hacking Sailing Club on Attunga Road or the bush reserve at the end of Maroopna Road. The boat ramp also has a private marina and offers fuel for all boats. Many homes have spectacular views over the bays and Royal National Park. The bay itself is long and narrow and lined with beautiful homes.
